SONDAGE. À 73 ans, Lyod James, aka King Jammy’s a décidé de livrer ses trésors musicaux cachés ou épuisés à ses fans. Le producteur du premier riddim digital a en effet ouvert la totalité de son catalogue à Kullar, du label londonien (Roots Youths Records).
Ce dernier va sortir prochainement de nombreux morceaux inédits ou déjà connus mais avec différents mixes du producteur jamaïcain. Et on vous invite ici à choisir quels titres voudriez-vous voir graver pour de nouvelles séries de dubplates parmi 100 premiers morceaux préselectionnés. À vos votes !

« The first ever record I bought was Rock them One by Eccelton Jarrett and every since that day I have always been in love with his sound and productions, as I learned and discovered more and more about King Jammys and his music I realised he was some what special or even Mystical. The more songs I heard of his made me realise I know nothing at all. It was only when i started work in Jetstar 1990, that suddenly all of a sudden every Lp 12″ 7 » I picked up or put away had some sort of connection with him. Whilst my time at Jetstar I discovered his older material and found out he had actually started at King Tubby. That was enough to start my passion for his music, and over the years I learnt so much about the legend that he was. We started our label in 2005 and we have work tirelessly with producers from home and abroad.

We had a booking in 2017 with Watts Attack Sound in International Dub Gathering, whilst I was selling my records outside, I could hear a Sugar Minnot track coming from somewhere faintly, as the track went on I thought ‘what is this’ ? The sound was coming from Blackboard Jungle. When King Jammys has finished doing his live mixing, I approached him owe got talking about my ideas and vision. The rest is history he has given us full exclusive access to his entire lifetimes worth of music. » ♦
